Bong Without Water

Using a bong without Water

You can consume cannabis in many different ways. Bongs are a very popular choice when it comes to creating a memorable smoking experience. While bongs are traditionally used by putting water inside of the air chamber, some may find themselves in situations where water isn’t available. Using a bong without water is very possible and can offer a different experience.

Choose the Right Bong

Not all bongs are equipped with the capability of providing a good experience with no water. Choose a bong with a simple chamber and percolator. Certain percolators like honeycomb or showerhead percolators can cause more of a drag which will result in you inhaling more smoke then you would desire. The Katana and Izumo bamboo bongs are great choices for a bong that performs very well with no water. The simple air chamber within the bong allows a large surface area for the smoke to cool. The sheath of the bamboo that is coated with heat resistant and waterproof epoxy contributes to the smoke being diffused and cooled down. Smaller bongs that range between 10-16 inches are recommended so that you don’t inhale too much hot smoke that could irritate your chest, throat, and lungs.

Pack Your Bowl

Just like any other traditional bong, you need to pack your bowl with your favorite kind of herb. If you're using a Terratokes Bamboo leaf shaped bowl make sure to pack the leaf bowl full of herb so that you can continuously pack the bowl without having to add more from your grinder. Since you are using your bong without water don't pack as much herb as you usually do. Smoke from a bong without water can be inhaled at a much faster rate than a pipe. Start with small amounts of herb and if you need more, load more into the bowl.

Adjust Your Inhalation technique

Water is the key cooling agent within the bong. Harshness can be a factor if you aren't aware of the inhaling technique that you need to adjust too. Take smaller and longer breaths when you are igniting the herb in the bowl. Using hemp wick is crucial while you are using your smaller and longer breath inhaling technique. Hemp wick will not expose you to harsh temperatures that a regular lighter normally exposes you too. The smoke will be much cooler and enjoyable.

Be Mindful of Odor

Consuming a bong without water will expose you and the bong to more pungent odors. The smoke that you are inhaling has a chance of having a stronger odor. Water within the bong will usually filter out soluble odors from the herb that you are consuming. Smoke outdoors or in a place with good ventilation because the smoke will stick to your clothes more then usual. If you consume without water on a regular basis you are going to make your bong more prone to getting dirtier. Make sure to clean with a good cleaning agent (ISO, Salt, Hot Water) so that your bong can stay in Pristine Condition.
