Acrylic Bongs

While not as commonly used as bamboo bongs or glass bongs, acrylic bongs are popular due to their durability and customizability. Acrylic bongs are a practical and budget-friendly option, especially for those who prefer a portable option. They are easily found in most smoke shops as well as online and on Amazon. While acrylic bongs may be able to offer a smooth rip, one should be aware of the potential drawbacks such as the inability of acrylic water bongs to cool the smoke efficiently and the impact acrylic bongs have on the taste of dry herb.

Acrylic Bong Material & Design

Acrylic bongs are not typically handcrafted in the same nature that ceramic and glass bongs are, and rather are made in bulk quantities. Typically made from acrylic plastic, a synthetic polymer derived from acrylic and other related components, acrylic bongs are durable and made from impact-resistant material that makes them less prone to breakage than glass bongs. For this reason, acrylic bongs are lightweight and easier to handle. They don’t necessarily require a case in the same manner that glass bongs do. Sometimes, acrylic bongs are even flexible and can be bent into various shapes.

Thanks to the versatility of acrylic, acrylic bongs can come in an array of designs and colors. While designs, prints, and patterns can be time-consuming to implement when blowing glass or making ceramic bongs, acrylic makes it much easier to implement these unique designs and color schemes. Acrylic bongs are typically designed structurally in the same nature as other types of water bongs and are comprised of a chamber or tube that holds the water, a downstem that connects the bowl piece to the tube, and of course a bowlpiece to hold your dry herb.

Acrylic Bong Use & Functionality

Although acrylic bongs will function in the same manner as most other water bongs, their use and functionality depend on how frequently they are maintained as well as the structure of the water bong itself. While acrylic is an unbreakable option, the taste that comes with using an acrylic water bong pales in comparison to bamboo and water bongs. Ultimately, acrylic bongs will function well but may not offer the same flavor and cooling effects that bamboo bongs and glass bongs offer.

Cleaning an Acrylic Bong

Acrylic bongs can be cleaned with the same method you’d use to clean any other bong. You can use isopropyl alcohol and salt, lemon juice, or any other market bong cleaner just as well. As with any other water bong, it’s recommended to change your water after each session and to clean your bong regularly to maintain its health. If you’re cleaning an acrylic bong with a metal bowl and downstem, you may find that soaking the bowl and downstem in a bag or cup with alcohol or bong cleaner will help speed up the cleaning process as metal can be harder to clean than glass.
